Onlinediary is a simple but powerful web-based online diary service, enabling everyone from technophobes to technophiles to keep their diaries and weblogs on the internet, password protected and safe from physical damage.
There are two services available, a free version and a Gold version. Our free users have limited access, but for a small annual premium, our Gold users are able to enjoy a more complete service; they are able to upload unlimited images, create their own weblog designs using CSS (cascading style sheets), and set email alarms amongst other benefits.
An online diary (or weblog) can be understood in many ways and take many forms. Whilst it is generally accepted among experienced internet users to be a chronological log of somebody's personal journal, online diaries are used as technical journals, public notice boards, publishing media in their own right, teaching tools for study groups, contact points for traveling professionals, writing tools for aspiring playwrights and even just for a good old moan!
Inspired by the lack of useful online diary sites on the internet at the time, the first online diary service at Onlinediary.net was created in March 2001. The second incarnation (released in March 2003) continued in the same vain as the first, it was free, exclusively private, simple to use, simply styled, quick and free from external advertising. A small scale marketing campaign coincided with the launch, gaining listing on all major search engines.
In the summer of 2003, a UK based web development company joined the project with a view of creating a small business out of the idea and Onlinediary Ltd. was born. The current site has been created by Onlinediary Ltd in a way that enables us to develop the site organically, with the ability to add more features as and when they become available.
Our free service is provided with two things in mind. Firstly, we aim to keep running Onlinediary with the same ethos that it was created, and this involves free access to all at the basic text-entry level as we've always had. However, we genuinely believe that our premium service offers a great deal more and is fairly priced - we hope to encourage free users to sign up by giving them limited access to premium functions so they can 'try before they buy'. There really are no catches, but the site must pay for itself in order to be financially viable. We're sorry if our free users find the limited functions frustrating but we hope you find the price for our premium service to be fair too.
